If you’ve been following BeautyByMissL for a while, you know that I am constantly on the hunt for products that actually deliver on their promises—especially when it comes to hair health. Back in August, I placed a much-anticipated order on iHerb.com for a duo that has been all over the “clean beauty” community: the Pura D’or Hair Thinning Therapy Shampoo and Conditioner.
Now that I have officially finished both bottles, I’m ready to share the full scoop. Does it actually make your hair thicker, or is it just clever marketing? Let’s dive into the details.

The Promise: What Pura D’or Claims to Do
Pura D’or has built a massive reputation around their “Gold Label” philosophy. Both the shampoo and conditioner are clinically tested and formulated with a moisturizing Aloe Vera base instead of water, which is quite rare in the drugstore or even mid-range market.
One of the most impressive things about this duo is the “No-No” list. These products are free from:
- Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS), Parabens, and Phthalates.
- Artificial Colorants, Mineral Oil, and Petrolatum.
- Formaldehyde, Toluene, and Common Allergens.
- Cruelty-Free, Vegan, and made with renewable energy.
The primary goal of this specific “Thinning Therapy” line is to reduce hair thinning by preventing breakage and strengthening the hair shaft from the follicle to the tip.
Part 1: Hair Thinning Therapy Shampoo
The shampoo is described as a “Premium Plant-Based formula.” It features a powerhouse blend of Amla Oil, Argan Oil, Black Cumin Seed, Biotin, Niacin, Rosemary Oil, and Saw Palmetto.
My Experience:
- Texture & Lather: The shampoo is transparent and has a lovely, medium consistency. Unlike many sulfate-free shampoos that feel like they just disappear into your hair without cleaning, this one lathers up beautifully. It feels luxurious and easy to distribute.
- The Scent: If you love aromatherapy, you’ll enjoy this. It has a very fresh, relaxing lavender note that makes the shower feel like a mini-spa.
- Performance: I followed the instructions to the letter: apply, lather, and let it sit on the scalp for 2 minutes. This allows the Biotin and Saw Palmetto to actually do their work. It left my hair feeling incredibly clean, but—and this is important for my fellow blondes—it did not feel stripped or “squeaky” dry.

Part 2: Hair Thinning Therapy Conditioner
The conditioner is the “partner in crime” to the shampoo, utilizing an “8 Proprietary Blend” including Caffeine, Catalase, Cayenne, Apple Stem Cells, and Copper Tripeptide.
My Experience:
- Texture: This is a white, surprisingly lightweight conditioner. When I first pumped it out, I was a bit skeptical. Usually, my dyed blonde hair requires thick, buttery masks to feel soft. I didn’t think this light formula would be enough to nourish my strands.
- The Scent: This is where the product gets polarizing. The scent is very “herbal” and unique. It’s not a bad smell, but it’s definitely not your typical floral or fruity salon scent. It’s medicinal and earthy—I grew to like it, but it might not be for everyone.
- Performance: Despite the light texture, it works! It provided excellent slip, making my hair easy to comb through while wet. It didn’t weigh my hair down, which is a common issue with thinning-hair treatments.

My 4-Month Results: Does It Work?
I used these products exclusively from August until they ran out (which took about four months). As someone with color-treated blonde hair, I have to be very careful with products that claim to “cleanse deeply,” as they can often turn my hair into straw.
1. Scalp Health & Cleanliness One of the most surprising benefits was that my hair seemed to stay clean longer. With Pura D’or, I could easily push it to day three without looking like a greaseball. My scalp felt balanced and healthy throughout the entire period.
2. Thickness vs. Hair Fall Let’s be honest: no shampoo is going to give you 50% more hair in a few months. I didn’t see a massive increase in the actual thickness of my individual hair strands. However, I noticed a significant decrease in hair fall. There was much less hair in the drain and in my brush. By reducing breakage, my hair felt fuller and looked healthier overall.
3. Suitability for Blondes Both products are labeled as Color Safe, and I can confirm this. My blonde didn’t turn brassy, and my hair maintained a nice shine that is often hard to achieve with “therapeutic” shampoos.
Final Verdict
The Pros:
- Incredible ingredient list (clean, vegan, and science-backed).
- Reduces hair fall due to breakage effectively.
- Shampoo lathers well and smells good.
- Doesn’t weigh down fine hair.
The Cons:
- The conditioner’s scent is an acquired taste.
- It’s a “slow burn” product—you won’t see results in a week; you need to be patient.
Would I call these my “Holy Grail” products? Perhaps not “Holy Grail” status just yet, but they are definitely “Repurchase” status. If you are looking for a reliable, clean, and effective system to help keep your hair on your head rather than in the brush, I highly recommend checking these out on iHerb.
