Designing or decorating kids’ rooms. Well, that can be a struggle. I mean when they are babies then it’s easy because usually parents can design and decorate the room according to their taste. But as the child gets older, the parents also have to talk the design through with the kid(s) because he/she is the one who will be playing and sleeping in that room.
So far I have kept my younger son’s room simple and minimalistic. His furniture is mainly white with some pop of colour. The walls of his room, at the moment, are still white. We have talked about maybe putting either a wall mural or wallpaper on one of the walls to make an accent wall, and paint the rest of the walls accordingly. But so far everything is still white. I guess the hardest part with the wallpaper or wall mural would be the design. Hubby and I would prefer something that would last at least 3-4 or more years and so the design can’t be too babyish, because we wouldn’t like to redecorate his room every year or every other year.
My 2.5 year old loves big trucks. Almost every day we do 2-3 km walks (he LOVES walking) and if he doesn’t see any trucks during that walk then he is super disappointed. A year ago he was obsessed with excavators. Then at some point last summer he LOVED planes and helicopters. He also likes cute baby animals and dinosaurs and fishes. But when it came to something new for his bedroom then it had to be a truck or trucks – or at least that’s what he pretty much told us.
Although we considered wallpaper at first for updating our toddler’s room, then we decided to keep the white walls and decorate the wall with a canvas print. Choosing the perfect design for my toddler’s room wasn’t easy, because he knows what he likes, and so I can’t exactly make this decision myself. So what we ended up doing was choosing several designs from the Photowall site that we thought he might like and then we let him pick his favourite. That part was actually easy. Although we showed him cute dinosaurs and baby animals, cars, etc, then he was 101% convinced that he needs that exact truck on his wall.
My husband wasn’t very sure about it and so the next day he actually showed him all options again plus even added a few new ones – but our toddler was like nope – I want THAT TRUCK and that’s it! And the whole week, that the canvas print took to arrive, our 2.5-year-old almost every day talked about the new picture of the truck that he will get. And even showed me where the picture has to go in his room 🙂
Placing my Photowall order
So, canvas print of speeding truck it was. The ordering process was easy as always. I chose the design I liked and customized the size of the print to make it perfect for my son’s room. I ended up ordering print in size 110 X 60 cm because that size seemed to fit best.
I have previously ordered from Photowall twice and both times my orders arrived in 2 days, however, this time it took a week. The canvas print arrived well packed in a durable cardboard box. The box contains everything you need to assemble the canvas print: canvas cloth, frame sections, corner plates, screws, and mounting hanger with screws, and an assembly manual.
How to assemble Photowall canvas print
Assembling the Photowall canvas print is easy. You can watch an assembly video available at the Photowall site or Youtube, and/or read instructions that come with the print. Assembling the Photowall canvas print is easy and it takes around 30 minutes.
- Place the canvas cloth on a clean, flat surface with the print facing down.
- Remove the protective paper from one of the frame sections
- Position the frame section along one edge of the cloth, centered between corners of the cloth. Smooth your hand along the edge of the frame to firmly attach the cloth to the tape.
- Fold the corners of the cloth up towards the tape on the frame sections
- Fold the frame sections towards one another.
- Position the corner plates in the corners and insert the screws. Tighten the screws to make the frame stable.
- Hang your print.
Photowall canvas print result
So here’s the result. My son is just LOVING it, and I guess that’s the main thing because it is his room after all. The quality of the canvas print is very good, and assembling it was easy.
And I like that when one day my now 2.5-year-old tells me that he would like something new for his room, then the makeover of his room will be rather easy.
