Time flies. When I was a kid, I remember always looking forward to my birthday. It always seemed so special, and so important. It was nice to receive presents and eat cake. Although I never had those super big birthday parties, then it was still special. But the older I get, the less important birthday seems to become for me. Yes, it’s still a special day but not that “special” anymore.
I still don’t celebrate my birthdays with big parties with all my friends and relatives. Just me and my family – presents, flowers, cake, and some champagne, and you know what – I’m perfectly happy with that. When it comes to flowers, then I prefer potted flowers or the ones I can plant into my flower bed because they last years this way. This year my 8-year old bought me a tiny cactus for my birthday. It was really sweet of him. A few months ago, we discussed what I would like for my birthday, and I told him that I would like a small cactus.
Birthday presents – well, I think I have kind of reached to an age (OMG, that sounds like I’m soooooooo old, but I’m not even 40 yet) where I don’t exactly need new things. Of course, I can never have too many earrings or necklaces or bracelets. A nice weekend at a spa would also be good, but right now with this COVID-19 situation I prefer staying at home just to be safe.
When it comes to my birthday wishlist then there are some things that has been there for a few years already. For example, a bicycle. There has always been something more important to buy and so if it continues like that, that bicycle will be in my wishlist for many more years. A new vacuum cleaner probably isn’t the best birthday present, but I really want a new one because I just hate the one I’m currently using. A few years ago I had an opportunity to test Philips SpeedPro Max Aqua cordless vacuum cleaner and I loved it a lot! Too bad it costs 500+ euros which is a tiny bit over my budget right now. A new iPhone would also be great. There’s nothing wrong with my current iPhone – iPhone 6 that I purchased 6 years ago because it works perfectly but I would just like a new one and currently iPhone 11 is in my neverending wishlist.
