Have you recently found out that you are having your first baby? If so, then you might be worried about some of the things that you should expect. For instance, a lot of pregnant women do experience quite a lot of pain during their pregnancy, even in the early stages. However, that doesn’t mean that there isn’t fun to be had on this journey. It is certainly worth exploring the fun parts and remembering that it’s not all aches and pains. Here are some of the moments that you can look forward to on this journey.
Let Your Partner Know
First, you need to think about how to tell your partner what you are expecting. Now, you can be boring and typical here and simply announce it in a normal way. Or, you can have a little more fun with this idea. There are some great options that you can and perhaps should explore here. For instance, you can make t-shirts that say daddy and mommy on them. Walk-in wearing your mommy t-shirt and wait for the reaction. If you’re thinking ahead you can even record the reaction that they have. It could be a great, funny social media moment and will be perfect if you are a keen to-be influencer. People love following pregnancy journey’s and this is one of the first steps. It’s just one of the many fun pregnancy announcement ideas. There are many more.
Arrange A 3D Scan
During your pregnancy, you will have numerous typical scans. These tend to start at about 20 weeks and this is the first time that you will get the chance to see what your baby looks like. At 20 weeks the details aren’t going to be completely clear and the image that you receive will depend on how the baby is lying. The midwife will try and nudge the little one in the right position to give you a clear look at how they are doing. But it can still be rather difficult to distinguish different features. It can also look like certain parts are bigger than they should be. Try not to worry about this, most babies grow into their features like their nose.
If you want a clearer view of your baby, you can arrange a 3D scan. You can do this at one of the later stages of your pregnancy. It’s worth noting that this isn’t as expensive as most people assume, despite the fact that you will usually have to speak to a private doctor. You will be able to share this moment with your partner and you can get a digital file with the 3D scan on too. This means that lots of people in your life will be able to see your healthy, happy baby in a way that is rather remarkable. You’ll be able to see the different features of your baby and it’s an incredible sight to behold.
Gender Reveal Parties
A little later in this list, we’re going to talk about baby showers which can be great fun. But before you get to the baby shower, you might also want to consider arranging a gender reveal party. A gender reveal party will provide a way to let everyone know the gender of your baby. Don’t forget, if you plan this the right way, it could be a surprise to you as well. To do this, let your midwife know that you want the gender to be a surprise. They can then write the gender down and put it in an envelope. You can give the envelope to a friend who can plan the whole party for you. For instance, they can arrange for a cake to be created filled with pink or blue sponge. When you cut into the cake at the party, you’ll know whether you are having a boy or a girl. Alternatively, your partner can buy you a pink or blue teddy. It’s completely your choice which direction you want to take here.
We know that during COVID it’s difficult to imagine throwing a party like this. But there’s nothing stopping you doing it all digitally.
Go Shopping
If you’ve ever been baby shopping before, it’s so much fun, even though it’s so tiring. There are so many things that you’re going to need that we suggest you just make a list to simplify the whole process. If you don’t do this, you could end up purchasing entire stores because all of the items were just so cute.
Keep in mind though that you don’t actually have to go to a store to get the things that you need. If you’re not feeling up to it, then online shopping is always available. The only thing with this is that you don’t get to see what you are buying up close and personal first. Some people want to know exactly what they are purchasing, and we don’t blame them.
Plan A Baby Shower
One of the most exciting parts about being pregnant is that you get to have a baby shower! All of your close friends and family come over, giving you gifts for your baby to help you out. Having a baby is expensive, there is no doubt about it, and the gifts that you receive here are going to be a fantastic help. Who knows, you might even get things that you thought about purchasing, but decided that it could wait!
Your friends and family will likely coordinate to make sure that they don’t get you the same things, but you can always help them out by creating a list. Let them know what you need so that they don’t then buy something that you’ve already got. Try to include a variety of products at a variety of prices, and then let them choose what they want to get. Then when the shower rolls around, you get to spend a fantastic day with the people that you love most, celebrating the new little life that you created.
Pregnancy Sex
We’re not entirely sure what you’ve been told about this, but it’s certainly not something to turn your nose up at. For some reason, some women and men seem to think that if you’re pregnant you can’t have sex. Why? Well, because they are worried that penetration might harm the baby. That’s not possible, the baby is too far up. They are worried that it might lead to labor. That could happen, but only in the last couple of weeks of pregnancy.
In fact, research has even gone as far as to suggest that this is when sex feels best. You have so many raging emotions and hormones, but all that does is add to the experience.
Look Your Best
We know that sometimes it feels completely pointless, but you can always try to look your best. A lot of the time the inclination is just to sit there in your sweatpants and t-shirt, feeling rotten. But, this isn’t going to help you feel any better. In some cases, if you get up, shower, put some fresh clothes on, brush your hair, and maybe even do your makeup, you are going to feel a lot better. There is a strong link to the mental and the physical side of things in pregnancy, the same as most other conditions.
It might feel like a chore or a challenge, but it’s worth a try. You don’t want to be miserable in your pregnancy, which is why you should try everything you can to make yourself feel better. If that means that you have to literally drag yourself to the shower, do it. You never know, it could be the key to enjoying your pregnancy months a little more.
Prepare Your Home
You should make sure that your home is fully prepared for the new arrival. Depending on where the new baby is going to sleep, you’ve got to get a room sorted. Or, set up your room so that there is space for all of the stuff you have bought them. Some people have them in their room for the first couple of months, but also have a separate room ready and available for when they feel they are okay to sleep alone.
But, it’s more than just this. You also need to think about child locks, stair gates, and anything else to keep them safe. Of course, in the first couple of months, they don’t really move that much, but if you have an advanced baby they might surprise you with how quickly they start to move around. You don’t want to be caught off guard when your baby rolls over to a plug socket and decides to put their finger in. Nope, don’t want that, so make sure you get electrical plug covers too.
We hope that you have found this article helpful, and now have a few ideas as to how you can find the fun in your pregnancy. It’s not always an easy process, but it’s always going to be worth it when you meet your little one. Do your best to enjoy being pregnant while you can, you’re growing an entire human, that’s pretty awesome!
