I like the simple and minimalistic Scandinavian style. When we bought our house last summer then we had a say about the wall colours in our new home and I guess, in a way, we took the easy way out and said that we would prefer the walls to be light. One reason for that was, at least for me, that in our rental, we had yellow, greyish-beige-ish-greenish walls and after living there for 3 years I just felt so fed up with those colours.
And so here we are in our simple Scandinavian style living room with plain light walls decorated with some black-white pictures and maybe because of the Spring approaching it was time to add something new to our living room.
Although I like how wall murals and wallpapers look then I do have a few issues with them. Firstly the installing. I have never-ever installed wallpaper and although in those video tutorials it seems easy then I’m just scared to mess it up. Secondly, it will be a headache to replace it with something else once I get tired of the design of the wall mural or wallpaper. Therefore I’m more into paintings, canvas prints, posters – something I can just easily take down and replace with something else.
In 2016 I and my hubby visited New York and since we both loved that city then we decided that a canvas print with New York motif would be perfect. Well, for some reason, I thought that it will be an easy task to choose the perfect New York themed design … until I found out that there were over 300 New York themed motifs to choose from on Photowall site. And so it took us about a week to come to a final decision.
Placing my order was simple. I chose the motif I liked (Aerial View of City) and then the size of the canvas print. Since we wanted something bigger, then, I chose 150 x 100 cm, but you can also go with smaller dimensions and easily customize and crop it as you like. Next, I chose the edge. For that, I had four options: black edge, white edge, motif edge or canvas only which means no frame. On the Photowall website I liked the motif edge best and so I decided to go with that.
Once I was happy with the size and edge I added the product to my cart and I was pleased to find out that shipping with DHL in Europe is free – which meant that I didn’t have to spend extra money on shipping. What surprised me the most was the delivery time – I placed my order on Wednesday evening (I think it was around 9 pm or so) and it arrived already on Friday! Well, that was fast!
To my great surprise, the canvas print arrived in a long cardboard package which meant a little DIY project for the weekend. The box contained everything you need to assemble the canvas print: canvas cloth, frame sections, corner plates, screws, hanging solution with screws and assembly instructions.
I like that the instructions were clear and simple and there’s also an instruction video you can watch.
The whole process was very easy, although a bit scary at first because I was scared to mess something up. Luckily, everything went well and probably the most difficult part of placing the corner plates and inserting the screws.
All you need to do is to place the canvas cloth on a flat surface with the print facing down and press the pre-taped wooden frame sections onto the sides of the image. You’ll have to leave a little space at the ends to fold up the corners. Once the frame sections are in place, you have to fold the wooden pieces in towards one another. Next, you have to place the metal corner plates in corners and insert all screws ad tighten them to make the frame stable. And the last step is to hang the finished canvas print on the wall.
The canvas print looked beautiful on Photowall website and in my opinion, it looks even better in real life. The colours are crisp and beautiful and all details are clear. This colourful canvas print adds a lovely touch of colour to our minimalist living room. Next, I should now probably sew some new sofa pillows for our sofa 🙂
When it comes to my experience with Photowall, then all I can say is perfect! I was just amazed how quickly my order arrived and the canvas print I ordered looks beautiful.
Photowall offers a large variety of motifs for wall murals, canvas prints, posters, and framed prints. I found some really cute posters for my 1.5-year-old son’s room and also perfect planets themed wall mural for my older son. So I guess that means that I’m probably going to have to place a new order pretty soon!

That’s beautiful! It looks so easy to assemble too. I will have to show this to my husband and maybe he would agree to have one done. He misses his hometown so much and maybe a photo of his hometown would be a lovely addition to our bedroom wall.
