Hersonissos Palace Hotel, Crete, Greece

Back in July, we spent a wonderful week in Crete. Surprisingly it was our third time in Crete! This time, we stayed in Hersonissos in Hersonissos Palace Hotel. The name of the hotel sounds fancy and it is a 5* hotel, however, its price is rather cheap. I had done my homework prior our stay there and so I knew that the hotel will not be as fancy as it sounds. In my today’s post, I’ll share with you my opinion of the place and also I’ll share with you some quite a lot photos 😛

Juulikuus veetsime me kalli abikaasaga suurepärase nädala Kreetal. Kreetat külastasime muide juba kolmandat korda ning seekord peatusime siis uhke nimega hotellis Hersonissos Palace Hotel. Tegu peaks olema 5* hotelliga, ent kuna ma tegin oma kodutööd korralikult ja lugesin päris palju arvustusi selle konkreetse hotelli kohta, siis teadsin ma juba ette, et nii hüpersuper see hotell siiski olema ei saa. Tänases postituses jagan teiega enda arvamust Hersonissos Palace Hotellist nign näitan teile hotellist ka natuke päris palju pilte.

The hotel restaurant was rather average and didn’t remind me 5* hotel restaurant. The tablecloths were sometimes dirty and didn’t look the best. The choice of food was again average.

I love bacon and scrambled eggs for breakfast, however, in our hotel they just didn’t taste right :S The juice was horrible and watery. The coffee tasted like instant coffee and I hated it. Lunches were poor and lacked seasoning. At least the wine tasted okay and as my hubby said, the beer was fine, too. Dinners were better, but still not perfect. The choice of food wasn’t the best, but at least it was better than lunch 😀

You could also enjoy your meals outside on the terrace, however, in that case, you have to take into consideration the fact that there will be 10+ stray cats there begging for food.

I absolutely LOVED KnoW Bar by the beach! Hersonissos Group’s Hotel clients can have a 20% discount on the listed prices  there. Since we were on AI (all included) then we could enjoy some drinks free of charge. The cocktails there were really good, plus they always tasted the same. In hotel pool bar the sometimes cocktails tasted like pure alcohol and sometimes like juice.

Hersonissos Palace Hotel has free wifi, however, it works the best in the hotel lobby and by the second pool. I was able to use the wifi in our room on my phone sometimes, however, it didn’t work on my laptop.

I liked that the hotel guests were from different countries. There were many people from Great Britain, Germany and France. So if you speak English you should be fine and as I understand if you speak Russian then there isn’t a problem either.

Söökide valik oli kokkuvõttes keskpärane. Hommikusöögi juures peekon ja munapuder jätsid soovida. Kõrvale pakutav kohv oli lahustuv kohv, mis maitses üsna jubedalt. Vähemalt oli hea kohvivõõrutus. Mahl mahla nime küll ei kannatanud kuna pigem oli tegu mahlalaadse tootega, mis meenutas pigem mahlapaki loputusvett. Lõunasöögi valik oli kehv. Väga palju pakuti hautatud liha, mis mulle ja härrale eriti ei meeldi. Kõrvale pakutavad õlu, vein, karastusjoogid ja vesi olid ok ja neid sai soovi korral endale ise masinast lasta. Õhtusöögid olid kõige paremad, aga siiski ei midagi erilist. Toitude valik oli kesine. Palju oli jällegi hautatud liha, mis maitses nagu nõukaaja vees keedetud liha. Üldiselt jättis mingil määral soovida ka toidu maitse ehk siis vahel tundus, et isegi mitte soola polnud sinna pandud.Hotelli restoran on küllatki keskpärane ja kindlasti mitte 5* hotellile kohane. Laualinad kohati kriitikat ei kannata. Ühel õhtusöögil sattus meile auguga laudlina, auk oli muidugi osavalt peidetud salvräti alla 😀 Teisel korral sattus meile aga laud sellise linaga, millel olid niidid väljas ja mis oli kõigist teistest laudlinadest totaalselt erinev nii oma materjali kui ka kõige muu poolest.

Kes soovivad võivad oma hommiku, lõuna või õhtu sööki nautida ka terassil, aga sellisel juhul peab arvestama vähemalt 10-pealise toitu nilliva kassikarjaga.

Hotelli juures kõige parem on rannas asuv KnoW Bar, kus kehtib AI (kõik-hinnas pakett). Joogid seal olid väga head ja tunduvalt suuremad kui hotelli basseinibaaris pakutavad. Samuti oli KnoW Bar’i jookide tase kogu aeg sama, samas kui basseinibaari puhul kord oli kokteilis tunda ainult alkoholi ja teinekord poleks nagu alkoholi sinna üldse pandud. Teenindus oli samuti väga mõnus ja igati ok. Lisaks avanes baarist kaunis vaade merele. KnoW Bar on koht kuhu läheks ka tulevikus. Lisaks oli seal tasuta wifi 🙂

Hotellis on wifi. Tasuta internet töötab kõige paremini fuajees ja tagumise basseini ääres. Telefoniga sain vahepeal ka meie toas üsna edukalt netti, samas aga läpakaga toast netti ei saanud. Kiirema interneti ühenduse soovijatel oli soovikorral võimalik raha eest ka paremat netti saada, aga kui palju parem see oli ja kus täpselt levis, ma ei tea kuna ei tundnud selle järgi vajadust

Hotellis oli külastajad erinevatest riikidest. Palju jäi silma sakslasi, britte ja prantslasi. Hotellis sai inglisekeelega väga hästi hakkama ja ma olen üsna kindel, et ka venekeeles seal hätta ei jääks.

There’s no animation team in this hotel, however, there was one lady wearing a t-shirt that said Animation. I have no idea what were here responsibilities there because she never really did anything. Weird.

Since there isn’t any animation team then the hotel doesn’t have entertainment either. Twice a week there were performers. On Wednesday evening they had Creek folk dancers and on Friday night they had a small show dance group.

Hotellis animatsiooni tiimi ei ole, aga oli mingi tšikk kellel oli tsärk kirjaga “animation” seljas. Sellest mis tema ülesanded olla võiks me aru ei saanudki. Päeval passis ta basseini ääres aga ei korraldanud seal midagi. 1 korra nägime teda ka pingpongi mängimas ühe tüübiga.

Meelelahutust hotellis ei ole igapäevaselt, aga 2x nädalas käivad esinejad. Kolmapäeva õhtul oli Kreeka tantsude õhtu, kuhu kaasati aktiivselt ka hotelli külastajaid. Reedel oli aga 3 liikmeline tantsutrupp, kes esines meelelahutuslike showtantsudega.

Hersonissos Palace Hotel has three pools. Two of them are outside and one inside. The pool next to the bar is really crowded during peak hours + there is rather loud music playing. By the second pool it it’s nice and relaxing, however, the bar is quite far away 😛 😀 Oh btw the WIFI works very well by the second pool. You can hire beach towels from hotel reception. Some of the towels look old and worn out, however, others were fine.

Hotellis on kolm basseini. Neist kaks on väljas ja üks asub sees. Baari juures olev bassein on päeval ülerahvastatud + mängib paaris päris kõv muusika. Teise basseini ääres oli samas mõnusalt rahulik ja vaikne – ainult baar oli liiga kaugel 😀 😛 Muide WIFI levi oli väga hea just nimelt teise basseini juures 😉 Hotelli vastuvõtust saab rannalinna. Tagatisraha 5€/tk. Osad linad näevad väga vanad ja kulunud välja, samas teised olid jällegi täitsa ok.

In the hotel there is also a gym, however, it looks rather poor. When it comes to gym equipment then there is one very old exercise bike; treadmill that wasn’t working very well and therefore running on it was kind of impossible, however, walking was fine. There were also dumbbells that were extremely dirty and sticky 🙁 , 2 multifunctional pieces of gym equipment that looked rather tired, 2 exercise balls and two exercise mats that looked quite poor. The biggest flaw for me was the lack of ventilation because although the window was open, there still wasn’t air in the room.

Hotelli keldris olev jõusaal jätab soovida. Masinatest on olemas üsna algeline velotrenažöör, jooksulint, mille peal joosta ei kannatanud (kõndida oli ok), mõned hantlid (1-3kg), mis olid räpased ja ebameeldivalt kleepuvad, 2 mutlifunktsionaalset väsinud olemisega jõusaali masinat, 2 kulunud olemisega matti, 2 võimlemispalli. Jõusaali suurimaks miinuseks minu jaoks oli jällegi ventilatsiooni puudumine, sest palavuse tõttu juba trenni esimestel minutitel hakkas higi tilkuma ja midagi hingata ei olnud. Aken küll oli lahti, aga mingit kasu ma sellest ei märganud

Our room was on  the 3rd floor. The room was cleaned daily, except on Saturdays. Although they washed the floor then it didn’t look much cleaner. The towels were changed every time, so that was good. Our room had the air conditioning, however, we couldn’t use it while laying on  the bed because the cooling wind was blowing directly on the bed 🙁

Tuba koristati igapäev, välja arvatud laupäeval. Põrand koristamise tulemusena oluliselt puhtam ei tundunud, aga samas käterätte vahetati iga kord. Toas oli konditsioneer, mida vastavalt soovile saab siis tööle panna ja temperatuuri reguleerida, aga halb on see, et konditsioneer on tuppa paigutatud nii, et see puhus täpselt voodisse ja öösel oli seega valida, kas kannatada palavust või lasta jahedal tuulel endale peale puhuda ja riskida haigeks jäämisega.

Our bathroom was okay, but nothing special. I didn’t like the fact that there wasn’t any ventilation and therefore both the bathroom and our room had from time to time this distinctive kind of musty smell.

Vannituba oli üldjoontes ok, aga ei midagi erilist. Vannitoas puudus igasugune ventilatsioon ja seega oli kohati nii vannitoas kui ka meie hotellitoas tunda sellist ebameeldivat niiskuse lõhna.

Overall I think that Hersonissos Palace Hotel is an okay hotel, but it is not a 5* hotel! The food, rooms etc reminded more of a 3* hotel.

Kokkuvõttes on Hersonissos Palace ok hotell, aga kindlasti ei ole tegu viietärni hotelliga. Sisustus, toidud jms meenutas kõik pigem 3* hotelli.
