Models Own Fruit Pastels scented nail polishes

June 2, 2015 By Leelo

Scented nail polishes? A couple of years ago nail polish makers came out with new thing – scented nail polishes. I do love different nail polishes (you know holographic, glitter, matte etc etc etc), but this scented polish was something that I wasn’t really drawn to. A few weeks we went to TK Maxx (know as TJ Maxx in the US) and there I stumbled on Models Own Fruit Pastels nail polishes set. Nail polish lovers probably know that Fruit Pastels collection polishes are scented 😉 And so since the set cost only around 10£, I decided to give these a try.

In Models Own Fruit Pastels collection there are 7 polishes and I have 4 of them to show you. All polishes are swatched over OPI Nail Envy base coat.

Models Own Fruit Pastels Blueberry Muffin

Models Own Fruit Pastels Blueberry Muffin is lovely baby blue shade. I love the color, but the formula – not so much. For nice and even result I needed two coats of polish. Luckily it didn’t take forever to dry. There is subtle scent, but you can only really smell it if you put your nails close to your nose.

Models Own Fruit Pastels Grape Juice

Models Own Fruit Pastels Grape Juice is lovely pastel purple shade. On my nails you can see two layers of polish, but for perfect result you might need three coats. The scent was there, but again it wasn’t strong.

Models Own Fruit Pastels Apple Pie

Models Own Fruit Pastels Apple Pie is pretty pastel green polish. I love its color but I HATE it’s formula. On my nails you can see two coats of Apple Pie and as you can see it still looks kind of patchy and uneven 🙁 When I compare the formulas of all 4 of these polishes then Apple Pie’s formula is the worst of them all 🙁

Models Own Fruit Pastels Strawberry Tart

Models Own Fruit Pastels Strawberry Tart is beautiful pastel pink polish. On my nails you can see two layers of polish and unfortunately it still looks slightly patchy here and there.

My opinion of Models Own Fruit Pastels scented nail polishes

My opinion in short: I love the shades, hate the formula and I still think that scented nail polishes are pointless.

I liked all these shades and they are perfect for spring and summer, but I am disappointed in their formulas. For nice and even opaque result you’ll need 2-3 coats of polish and even then it might not be perfect. When it comes to scent, then yes it is there. Luckily the scent is not strong, but I did expect it to be bit more noticeable.

Overall these are lovely pastel shades, but I wouldn’t purchase them again.

I haven’t tried any scented polishes yet. But Apple Pie and Strawberry Tart are so pretty shades!

The shades are so pretty, but I agree that it is pointless to have scented polishes!

They look so cute, but it’s too bad they have a lack-luster formula.

LOVE – these pastels are so pretty but it’s a bummer about the formula. I think that so many that have that scented claim seem to kind of fail. But I love the shades.
