Happy Friday! Usually I do makeup and/or outfit posts on Friday, but today I actually have elf Jumbo Eyeshadow Stick review & swatches for you 🙂 I purchased these in shades French Lace, Little Miss Thing and Rock Out a while back and they have been sitting in my untrieds box forever 🙁 Well a week ago I finally photographed, swatced and tested them.
elf Jumbo Eyeshadow Stick is described as creamy and pigment rich product that is perfect for creating a natural or smoky eyeshadow look. It is infused with nourishing Vitamin E to condition delicate eye area. e.l.f. Jumbo Eyeshadow Sticks glide on easily.
Lets start with swatches. On the photo below you can see e.l.f. Jumbo Eyeshadow Sticks in shades French Lace, Little Miss Thing and Rock Out swatched on the back of my hand. I applied them on clean dry skin. As you can see they are not that well pigmented 🙁
Good thing about e.l.f. Jumbo Eyeshadow Sticks is that they can be used as eyeshadow base. On the photo below I used them as base for 4 shades from e.l.f. Baked Eyeshadow palette in Texas (see my review and swatches of this palette here). These e.l.f. baked eye shadows need good base and as you can see they look more vibrant when applied over elf Jumbo Eyeshadow Sticks.
From somewhere I read that e.l.f. Jumbo Eyeshadow Sticks can also be used as a lipstick base. Well I have to admit that sounded interesting and so I had to try if that works. On the photo below you can see e.l.f. Moisturizing lipstick in shade Pink Minx swatched on its own (first swatch on the left) and then swatched over Jumbo Eyeshadow Sticks. French Lace made the lipstick shade lighter, Little Miss Thing added some golden shine and Rock Out changed the color completely.
And since these are eyeshadow sticks then here is one very quick and simple eye makeup I created. I applied French Lace all over lid and Rock Out in outer corner and crease. For this look I also used e.l.f. Mineral Eyeshadow Primer (review here). Well to be honest I’m not really loving the result 🙁 First of all the color looks quite sheer which of course for daytime look would be fine, but what I absolutely hate is that these sticks crease 🙁 Maybe when used over very very good primer the result will be better, but seems that e.l.f. own eyeshadow primers are no good. But at least they stayed all day without fading.
e.l.f. Eyeshadow Sticks cost around 2-6$ which isn’t much, but I’m still disappointed. I really expected these to have better quality. I do like these as an eyeshadow base because they work well for that, but as an eyeshadow they are not my cup of tea.
Would I purchase these again? NO
