Swimsuit shopping is something women are always anxious to get over with. For those who are not confident enough, wearing a really small piece of clothing in public can be difficult. It brings to light certain body issues that women might not want to show off at the beach or pool, hence its torturous factor.
Shopping for a swimsuit doesn’t necessarily have to be agonizing and frustrating, you just need to know exactly what you’re looking for, and what you need to avoid. Knowing these things will help you feel confident about yourself and will let you have less chances of getting embarrassed or overly body-conscious. Here are some style tips to help you get over your swimsuit blues.
Know what looks right for your shape
In order to truly know what swimsuit style would look great on you, you need to take into consideration your body shape. If you have a small bust, try out a swimsuit that has ruffles, padded tops or some fringe to create the illusion of more volume. Triangle-style tops provide a great fit for small-busted women, but don’t add much volume.
Women with large busts should go for swimwear with underwire and straps that are placed over the shoulders or those that clips in the back as opposed to tie-up. These offer more support, ideal for a full bust. Those with small hips should choose swimsuits with more elaborately styled bottoms, such as ruffles or side ties to create more volume.
Emphasize your best features
Know what your best features are and accentuate them for as much as possible, drawing attention away from your problem areas. To make one particular area look smaller, choose dark or solid colors with small prints. To make one area look bigger, go for solid, bright or light colors and large prints. The key is in the design – elaborate styles such as ruffle details make your top or bottom bigger, so explore what style options you could go for to put more emphasis on your best assets.
Make sure it’s the right fit
Worrying about the size number will do you no good; if it fits just right – not too tight or too lose – then it’s the right one for you. Make sure to get your most accurate, latest size instead of the one you’re previously aware of since the body changes a lot. Try out the fit of your chosen garment by doing some stretches and bends – this will let you make sure that the swimsuit won’t give you any embarrassing malfunctions. If you’re larger at the top or bottom, then you should probably opt to buy separates.
Examine the material
The fabric of your swimwear is an important factor if you want your garment to last longer or to give you a more comfy fit. Choose swimsuits that give you just the right amount of flexibility and avoid those that are made of thin material. A good swimsuit will give you enough stretch and support in its fabric, keeping things firm with less bulging.
These are just the basic factors to consider when shopping for the perfect swimsuit. What you really need is confidence. Remember that you’re heading to the beach or pool to have fun, so soak up the sun in your fabulous swimsuit and showcase your naturally beautiful personality.
