Simple DIY snowflake

December 18, 2014 By Leelo

I like snowflakes and the last 4 or 5 years I´ve used paper snowflakes to decorate windows for Christmas. The photo below is from last year – this was how I decorated little mr.R´s room window. Today I´ll show you how to make a simple paper DIY snowflake.

Mulle meeldivad lumehelbed ja viimased 4-5 aastat olen neid kasutanud jõuludeajal akende kaunistamiseks. Allpool olev pilt on tehtud aasta tagasi väikese mr.R toa aknast, kus kasutasingi põhiliselt vaid lumehelbeid. Täna näitan aga teile kuidas ma neid lumehelbeid teen.

So for making this DIY snowflake you will need:

  • paper (I used printer paper)
  • pencil
  • scissors

Nende lumehelveste tegemiseks läheb vaja:

  • paberit (mina kasutan tavalist printeri paberit)
  • pliiatsit
  • kääre

How to make simple DIY snowflake:

If your paper is already square-shaped then you can skip steps 1-3 and start with step 4 🙂 I usually skip steps 7 & 8, because I have just made so many snowflakes that I don´t have to draw the shape on the paper any more 🙂

  1. take a sheet of paper
  2. fold one corner until it meets the opposite edge, forming a triangle. Make sure they are even
  3. cut off the excess
  4. Now you have a piece of paper with 4  even sides 🙂 Fold it diagonally so you have a triangle
  5. fold the triangle in half
  6. fold the new triangle in half again
  7. take your pencil
  8. and draw the shape you want
  9. cut out the shape out
  10. unfold your snowflake

  3. Lõika ära üleliigne osa
  4. Nüüd on sul ruudukujuline paber. Murra see diagonaalselt pooleks nii, et tekib kolmnurk
  5. murra kolmnurk veelkord pooleks. Vaata, et servad oleksid kohakuti.
  6. murra kolmnurk veelkord pooleks.
  7. võta pliiats
  8. ja joonista soovitud helbe kuju paberile
  9. võta käärid ja lõika soovitud kuju välja
  10. voldi lumehelves ettevaatlikult lahti.

How beautiful! I used to love making these as a kid. I can’t wait to do it again with my grandsons are old enough.
