Taking Care of Your Palladium Jewelry

Taking Care of Your Palladium Jewelry

Palladium is a rare metal from the platinum group of metals. Although palladium looks quite similar to platinum, it is less dense, making it lighter and more comfortable to wear. This also means that palladium jewelry could be an affordable alternative to platinum jewelry. You can find wide variety of exquisite palladium engagement rings and palladium jewelry from Union Diamond.

As such, palladium engagement rings should be your choice if you want the elegant look of platinum minus the weighty feel on your finger. Although palladium jewelry is quite durable and lustrous, you should take some simple steps to keep it as good as new.

Palladium Jewelry Maintenance Tips

While palladium is resistant to tarnish, it may develop some marks or spots over time. Read on to learn some tips on how to take care of your palladium jewelry.

  • Make sure that you do not bring your palladium engagement ring or any palladium jewelry in contact with harsh chemicals. This will help prevent scratches, and also protect any stones set in it.
  • Get commercial jewelry cleaner and soak the jewelry in it for 5-10 minutes. You can also use a solution of warm water and soap as an alternative to commercial jewelry cleaner. Then gently scrub the jewelry and rinse it with fresh water.

To further protect your palladium jewelry from scratches, you should store them in a separate box or bag. Make sure that the bag has many compartments so that you can store them separately. This makes sure that the pieces would not rest against each other and get scratched.

Good to know that harsh chemicals can cause damage! I think most of us come into contact with harsh chemicals when cleaning!
